The Story of EveryMan's Pocket EDC (EMPEDC)

EMPEDC began during the COVID-19 pandemic, a challenging time when I lost my job and felt increasingly disconnected from my family after years of middle management. Tired of the long hours that kept me away from my wife and kids, only to barely just get by in life. I prayed for a more joyful and meaningful career. Something I could be excited to wake up and work on each day. That moment inspired me to pursue my passion for pocket knives.

While I had been an enthusiastic collector, designing and manufacturing knives was a whole new world. I immersed myself in learning, watching countless YouTube tutorials, and reaching out to experienced makers for guidance. Gradually, I connected with manufacturers and laid the groundwork for EMPEDC.

My first project was a collaboration with a small company to design a blade for an out-the-front (OTF) knife, which provided an invaluable experience. This motivated me to create my first folding knife—the Nymble. I envisioned a knife that was not only functional but also fun to use with multiple deployment options, so I designed it with three opening methods: a flipper tab, a front flipper, and IMO the worlds best middle finger flick hole. 

When we launched the Nymble, I was genuinely blown away by the positive response from our supporters and the review community. Our 1st drop sold out so quickly, the excitement & support was amazing. The Nymble, the original Multi Deployment knife was a success. That moment solidified my belief that this crazy dream was becoming a reality. Soon after we would see Multi Deployment burst into the industry, becoming a growing trend.

Today, I continue to grow EMPEDC, constantly exploring fun new ideas and embracing challenges. My family and I are deeply grateful for the support from our community. This journey has transformed our lives, allowing us to do what we love while staying closer as a family. For that, we will always be thankful.
