EveryMan's Pocket Every Day Carry

EMPEDC was born in 2020, during the turbulent and unpredictable days of the COVID-19 pandemic—a time that brought challenges to all of us in different ways. I had spent years working in middle management, pouring long hours into a job that left me exhausted and, more importantly, disconnected from my family. Despite the time and effort I invested, I was barely making ends meet and felt like I was just treading water. Then I lost my job in the early spring. That was when I started to pray for something more meaningful—something I could wake up to each morning with excitement and purpose. That prayer was answered & sparked the creation of EMPEDC, my own line of pocket knives and EDC gear.  

Though I had been an enthusiast and collector for many years, the world of knife design and manufacturing was completely new to me. I had no training in the craft, but I was driven by a vision of creating something that combined quality, Fun, & function. I wanted to make knives that were more than just tools—they needed to be something that people would enjoy using, & carry with pride. With that goal in mind, I dove headfirst into learning everything I could. I spent countless hours watching YouTube tutorials on knife mechanics, blade design, and manufacturing techniques. I reached out to experienced makers and industry veterans, seeking advice, feedback, and mentorship wherever I could. Slowly but surely, I built a network of professionals and manufacturers who helped me bring the vision to life, and EMPEDC began to take shape.

My first significant project was a collaboration with a small company to design a blade for an out-the-front (OTF) knife. It was an eye-opening experience, and it gave me a deeper understanding of the intricacies involved in designing and producing a high-quality knife. But the real breakthrough came when I designed my first folder: the *Nymble*. This wasn’t just any folding knife—it was a design born from a passion to create something truly unique. I envisioned a knife that was functional & fun to use, a knife that would stand out in terms of both innovation and versatility. I designed it with multiple deployment options: a traditional flipper tab, a front flipper, and what I consider to be the best middle finger flick hole in the industry. The *Nymble* was meant to be a knife that offered more than just cutting power—it was an experience.

When we launched the Nymble, I honestly didn’t know what to expect. But the response from our community and supporters was overwhelming. Our first drop sold out in less than 2 days, and the excitement surrounding the release was beyond what I could have imagined. The Nymble, the original Multi Deployment knife—was a hit, and that success confirmed that this dream of building a business around something I loved was becoming a reality. Soon after the Nymble launch we would make new versions, & the concept of Multi Deployment began to gain traction in the knife industry.  To this day, Multi-Deployment remains a growing trend, with more and more makers embracing the idea of multiple opening methods for both function and enjoyment.

Since then, EMPEDC has continued to evolve. I am constantly innovating and pushing myself to think outside the box, exploring new materials, designs, and ideas that challenge the status quo. Every step of the way, my family and I have been incredibly grateful for the support from our growing community. This journey has not only allowed us to build a business we’re passionate about, but has also brought us closer together as a family working to build something awesome.

For all the support, for every customer, maker, and fan who has been part of this adventure with us—we are indescribably thankful. This has transformed our lives in ways we never imagined, and we are excited for the road ahead.
